Architect-urban planner and lecturer at the Institute of Geoarchitecture, UBO, Edna Hernández González is currently assistant director of Laboratoire Géoarchitecture, UBO.

FULL RESUME

Edna is currently leading three research projects:

•     Coordination of "Noz Breizh" (scientific consortium),
•     "Noz Num: Walking in the city at night" (funded by MSBH),
•     "Smart Noz" (funded by région Bretagne).

Her work focuses on nocturnal urban planning, in particular the link between urban lighting, human activities at night and their impact on the environment. She considers the gendered practice of urban space and the experience of night-time walking in French and Mexican cities. Since 2012, she has been an active member of the Mobilité urbaine piétonne cross-disciplinary research group (Labex Futurs urbains, GT MU, Université Gustave Eiffel). Since 2016, she has been a delegate of the Institut des Amériques in Brest (IDA-Brest). She is a founding member of the Estudios sobre la noche research network in 2020.

Among her recent publications, she collaborated with Alejandro Mercado-Celis on a book entitled Estudios de la noche urbana y la economía nocturna en las ciudades de México, Estados Unidos y Canada, in 2021. In addition, she has collaborated with Florian Guérin and Alain Montandon on the book Cohabiter les nuits urbaines.
