RESSAC/SEA-EU

Imagined from the desire to collaborate, connect and create with peers and colleagues across Europe, Festival RESSAC & SEA-EU present this interdisciplinary project involving 35 students, 6 teachers and 1 choreographer, from 6 different countries. Through February the teachers have delivered a series of virtual lectures, and a round-table discussion exploring the theme of La Mue, in relation to dance. In March students will participate in a week-long residency in Brest, to continue building on this research and practically applying it to the body and movement. Three restitution performances will be presented in Festival RESSAC, 19 March 2024 concluding this project exploring the intersection of art, science and creation.

GENESIS; Growth and Transformation 

Through dance movement, think about the genesis of forms, their transformations, their variations, their evolution and construction as much as their deconstruction… La Mue. 

GENESIS; Growth and Transformation culminates from workshops based on the dynamic space thinking of Rudolf Laban, Effort-Shape and Choreutique. How do the dynamics found in movement and their relationship to space, initiate and sculpt form? Oscillation, spirals, loops and lemniscates crystallize into a variety of forms. Get closer to innate morphology, animal and human, through dance, by drawing on organic movement. Breathing, the relationship to gravity, muscular tension and relaxation are tools for experimenting with movement and composition. But the infinite variety of natural creations demonstrates that they are not solely shaped by physical forces. Rhythm and dynamic are integral to the development of form.
Life is rhythm, that is, the dialogue of each natural creation with space, with others. And these dialogues never cease to transform. Students embark on a week-long intensive course that includes dance repertoire from Isadora Duncan, Loie Fuller, Rudolf Laban et Doris Humphrey.

Dancer and interpreter of Isadora Duncan repertoire. Dance historian, PHD in Arts and performances, Certified Movement Analyst from Laban-Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, New York. Currently dancing for Jérôme Bel in Isadora Duncan (2019), Danses non humaines (2023), and for Cécile Proust in Ce que l’âge apporte à la danse (2023).
